Keane facing legal fight
Keane, who was dismissed for a late lunge on Haaland in the Manchester derby 17 months ago, brought the incident back into the spotlight when revealing in his autobiography, serialised in a national newspaper, that he intended to do the Norwegian harm.
During his spell with Leeds, Haaland clashed with Keane which resulted in the Irishman suffering a cruciate ligament injury which sidelined him for a substantial amount of time.
Keane bore a grudge against Haaland after he claimed the Red Devil was faking injury at Elland Road.
Following talks between the club, player and lawyers, The Citizens have announced that they intend to take legal action.
A statement on City`s website read: "Following discussions today at Maine Road between the Football Club, Alfie and his legal advisers, it has been agreed to jointly instruct a leading firm of solicitors regarding the circumstances surrounding Roy Keane's tackle on 21st April, 2001.
"This action has been taken with a view to commencing legal proceedings against Roy Keane and his employers Manchester United football club."
