Spurs move in on Chiesa

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR are believed to be a step closer to strengthening their strike force after making a move for Enrico Chiesa.

Spurs are believed to have offered a three-year contract to the 31-year-old, who is currently looking for a club after being released by cash-stricken Fiorentina.

Manager Glenn Hoddle has spent most of the summer looking for a new hit-man, having been linked with the likes of Robbie Keane, Rivaldo and Fernando Morientes, but has now reportedly put the former Italian international at the top of his wanted list.

Italian sides Juventus, Lazio and Milan are also believed to want the former Viola star, along with Sampdoria, however Tottenham are leading the chase as they are the first club to put forward a contract offer.

Many sides are currently hesitating over a move for the ace as the striker made only seven appearances last season, after picking up a serious injury, culminating in question marks being raised over his current fitness level.
