Lennon pulls out after death threat

NEIL LENNON`S international future is in the balance again, after he was forced to pull out of Northern Ireland`s clash against Cyprus after receiving a death threat.

The Celtic midfielder was due to lead out his country at Windsor Park on Wednesday evening, but the threat left Lennon with little option but to pull out.

The former Leicester man did not travel with the team to Windsor Park, and is expected to return to Glasgow immediately.

The Irish Football Association consulted with police and his club before Lennon took the decision to pull out.

The player has been targeted by sections of the crowd in the past, and last year said he was contemplating international retirement after being booed during a fixture.

This latest incident is sure to force Lennon to think long and hard about whether it is worth continuing playing international football.
