Lewis work permit rejected

EXCLUSIVE
EDDIE LEWIS will not make his debut for Preston at the weekend, with United States star's application for a work permit rejected.

Preston swooped to sign the American winger on a three-year contract, but the player has not been able to get permission to ply his trade in Division One.

The Home office confirmed to planetfootball that the player's application had been rejected and that an appeal had been lodged.

"We can confirm that Eddie Lewis will not receive a work permit as he did not reach the criteria set," a Home Office spokesperson told planetfootball.com

"An appeal has been lodged and will be thoroughly reviewed."
