Ref explains Lille - PSG confusion
With PSG down to nine men and Lille ten, Mile Sterjovski and Frederic Dehu (pictured) clashed on the stroke of half time, causing referee Stephane Moulin to raise his overworked red card twice more, apparently to send both men off.
However, the man in black now says that Lille's Mile Sterjovski escaped his red card wrath and the second showing of the card was again directed at Dehu, who had failed to leave the field of play.
"I straight away gave the red card for Mr Dehu," said the referee. "He moved away, but didn't leave the group of players that just gathered.
"So, I showed the red card for him once again. I wanted to show him I had sanctioned his rough act on a player on the ground.
"It is absolutely not a second sending-off. PSG wished to lodge technical reservations, which is perfectly their right, but they only did it after the encounter."
During the game PSG went down to ten men as early as the 24th minute when Mauricio Pochittino was sent off, and was followed from the field by Jose Aloisio and Dehu later on, while Lille's Marius Baciu also received hs marching orders in the game that ended in a 2-1 win for Lille.
