Forlan explains celebration
The Uruguayan has had a torrid time in front of goal since arriving at Old Trafford last term, but he went some way to silencing the critics with a simply stunning right-footed drive that gave The Red Devils a 2-1 win.
Forlan dashed to the corner of the ground and ripped off his shirt in celebration, nothing out of the ordinary for a player scoring a late winner at Old Trafford.
The scene quickly went from the sublime to the ridiculous as Forlan failed in his attempts to put his shirt back on and, as the game kicked-off again, was seen haring around, bare chested, in a bid to make a tackle.
The incident was the highlight of a Premiership weekend lacking in action for many, but did not please Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Forlan was silent on the affair over the weekend, but the striker finally spoke to the South American press on Monday.
He said: "The goal that I scored on Saturday was one of the best ones that I have done in my career.
"First of all because I was on the pitch for only a few minutes, second because it was a nice goal and third because it gave victory to my team.
"I went to the corner where the parents of the players always are and I dedicated my goal to my brother, a friend nicknamed Bata and an English friend that I have had since I arrived here.
"The only problem that I had with my celebration was that I took my jersey off and then I couldn't get back on.
"I wanted to do it but I had to keep on playing and I couldn't get it on."
