Campo thanks Big Sam
The Spanish stopper had to write off nearly a year of his playing career after falling out of the reckoning at Real Madrid.
His troubles at Santiago Bernabeu led to depression and to him losing the desire to lace up his boots, until he spoke to Allardyce.
Trotters boss Allardyce convinced Campo to sign on a one-year loan deal at The Reebok, and he has helped the 28-year-old find his love for the game once more.
"Everybody has helped me at Bolton but no-one quite like Sam," said Campo.
"He has helped me to feel again passion for football and I know I will reach my highest level again.
"I can say that he is the father of the Bolton Wanderers family. When one of his kids has a problem, he is there to help you.
"he took a gamble to sign me and I will never forget that. I had some problems in my former club and I was unable to play football for some time.
"I will never forget what Sam has done for the rest of my life."
Campo is now hoping to repay the faith Allardyce has shown in him by helping Bolton to survive in the Premiership this season.
