Everton say bye to Baardsen

EVERTON will release goalkeeper Espen Baardsen at the end of the week when his short term contract expires.

The former Tottenham Hotspur ace will seek new employers as The Toffees will not be retaining him for another month when his current deal expires.

The Norwegian stopper, 26, was drafted in by Goodison park chief David Moyes over the Christmas period when he faced a keeper shortage with both Paul Gerrard and Steve Simonsen sidelined, and first choice Richard Wright joining them soon after.

Baardsen was on the wrong end of a 4-3 score line against his former side Spurs in January and picked up a hip injury himself soon afterwards.

However, Wright, Gerrard and Simonsen are back to full fitness now meaning the ex-Watford shot stopper's services are no longer required.
