Alex duo dash to Iceland
CREWE ALEXANDRA have confirmed that youngsters Ian Jeffs and Tom Betts have both flown to Iceland to sign loan deals with IBV.
The club, who are in the Icelandic Premier Division, want the duo to be part of their squad for pre-season training in preparation for the season's start on May 18.
Crewe believe the chance for the pair to secure regular first-team football will help benefit the newly-promoted side in the near future.
"The club is delighted for both players as it is a very positive opportunity for both of them," said a club spokesman to the club's official website.
"It's a good opportunity to enhance their footballing education and experience as well as improving match fitness by playing regular games."
Meanwhile, Alex manager Dario Gradi has confirmed he is keen to see if Manchester United will extend Paul Tierney's loan deal at Gresty Road.
"He has two years left on his contract at United, so it would be no great risk for them if we could extend his loan period," said Gradi.
"But we'll have to wait and see."
