Burley calls time on Scotland career
Burley, who was a mainstay of the Scotland side under the stewardship of Craig Brown, represented his country some 46 times.
The 31-year-old was recalled by Berti Vogts for last month's friendly with Austria after 18 months in the international wilderness.
However, following Scotland's lacklustre 2-0 reverse in that game, Burley has decided to permanently retire from the international scene.
"After thoughtful consideration over the past week to ten days I have decided to retire from international football," he stated.
"This is not a decision that I have taken lightly, especially as my Scotland career, until now, has brought me 46 caps, some great memories and a huge amount of pride.
"I would like to wish Berti Vogts and the Scotland squad all the very best but also take this opportunity to thank Craig Brown and his staff for whom I played 45 matches."
