Luzhny desperate for Arsenal stay

EXCLUSIVE
OLEG LUZHNY is still desperate to remain with Arsenal, according to his agent Sandor Varga.

Luzhny was in superb form for The Gunners in the FA Cup, putting in perhaps his most impressive performance in an Arsenal shirt.

With the player's one-year deal expiring in the summer, the Ukrainian defender is keen to stay at Highbury - despite rumours of interest from Charlton.

"There has been no contact from anyone regarding Oleg," Varga told planetfootball. "We know of these Charlton rumours only from the papers.

"The situation at the moment is that his contract has finished and we are waiting for an offer from Arsenal - as we did last season.

"The best option for Oleg would be to get another one-year deal with Arsenal but at the moment the situation is still open.

"He has played for just two clubs in his career - Dinamo Kiev and Arsenal - and it would be his dream to finish his career at Arsenal.

"On the other hand he is at full fitness and playing well - as he showed in the FA Cup final - and he is desperate to play.

"We will see what happens.

"Arsene [Wenger] never discusses deals before the summer, and we are awaiting his call.

"We do not feel it is up to us to force the issue."
