Valencia line up deal for Eto'o
VALENCIA are preparing a cash plus player exchange offer to bring Mallorca striker Samuel Eto'o to La Mestalla.
Eto'o is Valencia's top summer transfer target and they are prepared to offer out-of-favour striker Salva Ballesta and ‚é¼16 million for the Cameroon ace.
Salva is very much surplus to requirements at La Mestalla having spent the last five months of last season on loan at Bolton and the club are willing to let him leave.
Valencia hope that the ‚é¼16 million cash offer along with Salva will persude Mallorca to sell Eto'o, who has a ‚é¼30 million buy-out clause in his contract.
Eto'o has been linked with a move away for San Moix for some time with Premiership duo Liverpool and Tottenham both reportedly interested in him.
Mallorca would like to keep the skilful forward, but know they face an uphill battle to ward off interest from other sides.
Should Mallorca miss out on qualifying for Europe Eto'o may decide to leave with Valencia possibly being able to offer him the chance of playing in the Champions League.
Eto'o is under contract until 2007, but Mallorca may decide to cash-in on him later this month as a clause enabling his former club Real Madrid a sell-on fee expires.
