Windass agrees Bradford return
The journeyman striker will re-join The Bantams for pre-season training on Monday before putting pen to paper on his new deal on July 1.
The 34-year-old has taken a pay cut to return to Valley Parade - the club he left to join Middlesbrough in March 2001.
Despite some interest in him from former Bradford City boss and current Wigan Athletic manager Paul Jewell, Windass has opted to link up with Nicky Law's outfit for a second spell.
The veteran hit-man told the Bantams' official website that he hopes to show former club Sheffield United were wrong in not renewing his contract at Bramall Lane for next season.
"I'm not going back to Bradford for the comfort zone. If I'd wanted to do that, I could have gone somewhere else and earned a lot more money," Windass said.
"I could have stayed at Sheffield United for that but this is not about money.
"All I want to do is play and I'm delighted that Nicky Law is going to give me that chance.
"I don't want to get in any bother but I love proving people wrong and I want to show (Sheffield United boss) Neil Warnock he made a mistake.
"I've had a lot of good vibes from Nicky about the club and he really sold it to me.
"Nicky has talked about getting the right mixture of experience and youth with the strength in depth you need.
"It's the same as what we had at Sheffield United last year.
"I can identify with what Nicky Law wants to do. I want to come here and be the best player."
Windass has enjoyed numerous spells with a host of clubs in his career - with Hull City, Aberdeen and Oxford United being the other sides he has appeared for in his career so far.
