Beagrie extends Iron deal

The 37-year-old's contract ran out during the summer and he had been linked with a move away from Glanford Park, but the much-travelled star has pledged his immediate future to The Iron and is looking forward to next season.

He told the club's official website: "I had a few other offers from abroad and Ireland but I enjoyed my time at Scunthorpe.

"If it was purely a financial decision I would probably have walked away but I have enjoyed myself and the club is allowing me to continue my work with Sky."

Beagrie has played for several clubs throughout his 20-year career, including Everton, Manchester City and Bradford.

He signed for Scunthorpe in July 2001 and Iron manager Brian Laws was delighted to have the experienced player on his books for another year.

"Peter has something to offer Scunthorpe United both on and off the pitch and we are very pleased to keep him for a third season," he said.
