Zebina refusal alerts trio

JONATHAN ZEBINA is reported to have turned down a new deal at Roma, alerting a number of clubs to his possible availability.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Bolton Wanderers have all been linked with the Frenchman and they have been alerted by his decision to reject a new deal at the Giallrossi.

Zebina has just one year to run on his current deal and Roma were keen to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

Roma would be willing to sell the versatile defender rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.

Arsenal could be in the market for a new defender to partner Sol Campbell, but with money limited at Highbury and a new goalkeeper their top priority, a move for Zebina seems unlikely.

Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier has held a long-term interest in Zebina and although he admitted that the club's summer transfer dealings were at an end he could move for the defender if he is available for a cut-price fee.

Bolton had made enquiries to take Zebina on loan but Roma are reluctant to agree to the move as they would prefer to sell him.
