Jari new Ajax skipper
JARI LITMANEN`S renaissance at Ajax was completed earlier in the week when coach Ronald Koeman handed him the captain`s armband for next season.
Midway through last season, Ajax were seriously considering letting the Finnish striker leave due to his persistent injury hassles.
However, he shook off his problems, and scored some vital goals late in the campaign, and this persuaded Koeman to extend his contract.
With Cristian Chivu leaving for Roma, Ajax were left without a skipper and Koeman had little hesitation in opting for Litmanen.
Ajax have gone for a blend of youth and experience, as Dutch international Rafael van der Vaart will act as vice-captain next term.
