Kluivert receives clearance

PATRICK KLUIVERT has been granted a visa to enter the United States and join his Barcelona team-mates on their pre-season tour.

The Dutch international hit-man was refused entry to America last Friday after the country's immigration department insisted he needed special documentation on account of a past criminal conviction.

The 26-year-old was involved in a fatal car crash back in 1996, in which a young female was killed, and was subsequently charged with manslaughter - although he avoided a custodial sentence.

Kluivert has, though, now secured the visa required from the American Embassy in Madrid and can now join up with the Barca squad as they complete their pre-season friendly schedule.

The former Ajax and Milan ace missed the Catalan side's penalty shoot-out victory over Juventus on Sunday through the documentation wrangle.
