Blues issue Morrison statement

BIRMINGHAM CITY have moved to clarify the circumstances surrounding an incident involving striker Clinton Morrison on Monday evening.

The 24-year-old was travelling in a car that was stopped by police, and it was subsequently found to have drugs in it.

Morrison is unable to drive and had accepted a lift from someone he did not know.

The club statement emphasised that the player is in no way involved with drugs and now realises that accepting a lift from someone not known to him was the wrong thing to do and he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Blues boss Steve Bruce told the club's official website: "Clinton obviously realises he has made an error of judgement but does not take or is involved in drugs in any way."

The former Crystal Palace star was released on bail after questioning but has been told by police that he is unlikely to face charges.
