Djalminha suffering from mental illness

DEPORTIVO LA CORUNA have revealed that temperamental Brazilian star Djalminha is suffering from psychological problems which have prevented him from training with the squad for the past three weeks.

It appears that the player's mental illness has been brought on by his uncertain future at the Primera club, though Depor seem determined to stand by their player.

The Galician outfit insisted they had only made a statement on the South American star after the news was set to break in the Spanish press.

"We wanted to maintain the intimacy and professional relationship with the player in a situation that does not correspond to a sporting injury," said a Deportivo spokesperson.

"We felt obliged to explain the situation once it had been made public in the press."
