Kelly quits Irish
Kelly informed Ireland boss Brian Kerr of his decision over the weekend as he looks to establish himself in Peter Reid's plans at Elland Road.
The 29-year-old, who made his debut in 1994, won 52 caps for his country scoring two goals and he played in the 1994 and 2002 World Cups.
Kelly's final international appearance came in Mick McCarthy's last game in charge, the 2-1 defeat by Switzerland last October.
The emergence of Stephen Carr and Steve Finnan on the international scene restricted Kelly's chances of playing for his country and although he was included in Kerr's squads he failed to feature in the first team.
