Chivu considered Ajax return
Chivu found his dream move overshadowed by Roma's well-publicised financial problems - that threatened to scupper his transfer.
However, Chivu had already adapted to the club he considered his new home, and was delighted when things finally cleared and he was allowed to play.
"The problem annoyed me, because after more than a month I already felt like a Roma player," said Chivu.
"Many people advised me to cut my losses and return to Ajax, but I decided not to.
"My decision was based on not wanting to show a lack of respect to the coach and my team-mates.
"I feel very good in this team, there is a team spirit that I have never seen before.
"On Sunday I played my first match and scored as well. Obviously I'm delighted about this.
"Roma are the strongest side I have played with - there are so many good players."
