Versatile Ono just happy to play
The Japanese international still dreams of playing just behind the front two on a consistent basis, but is happy to play anywhere the coach wants him to.
"My preferred choice would be to play as an attacking midfielder behind the two strikers," revealed Ono.
"I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to play there a few times for Feyenoord this season."
Ono made a name for himself as a creative attacking midfielder at Urawa Red Diamonds before transferring to Feyenoord a couple of seasons ago.
Since than he has been played in a variety of positions by coach Bert van Marwijk, who was quick to take notice of Ono's flexibility.
On the international scene, he is currently used as a defensive midfielder by Japan national coach Zico, and his predecessor Philippe Troussier deployed the 24-year-old on the left-wing.
"It's not important where I want to play," continued Ono. "The coach picks the players and their positions.
"To me, just being able to play is important enough."
