Lucio favours Juve over Chelsea
Bayer Leverkusen's Brazilian defender Lucio has stressed his desire that he would rather join Italian giants Juventus than big-spending Chelsea.
Real Madrid, Juventus, Roma and Chelsea have all been strongly linked with the classy defender since last summer, but he surprisingly decided to remain at Leverkusen.
Lucio admitted he is a keen follower of English and Spanish football, but that he prefers a move to Turin above anything else if he did leave the BayArena.
Lucio has now stressed that he has no intention to leave Bayer during the winter transfer window, but rather eyes a move for next summer.
"Chelsea is one of the most important clubs in Europe and I like the English football just as I like the football in Spain and Italy, but Juventus were the first to contact me," the 25-year-old World Cup winner told Tuttosport.
"It's right, I'd like to move to Turin and wear the Juventus shirt and play in the Champions League," he explained.
Lucio has pledged his immediate future to Bayer insisting he has no intention to leave the club during the winter transfer window, but that he could leave in the summer instead.
"It's important to me that I stick to the promise I gave the Leverkusen fans to stay there for another season, but then I will be ready to move on," added Lucio.
Despite having a contract until 2007 at the BayArena, Leverkusen have already hinted that they would not be able to turn down the chance to cash in on their most prized asset next summer at the right price.
