U's end Stephens interest

Cambridge United have decided to terminate their interest in Leyton Orient's transfer-listed defender Kevin Stephens.

The teenager linked up with The U's to train this week and featured for the reserves against Gillingham in midweek.

Stephens was joined in the second string encounter by another trialist - former Bradford City midfielder Craig Fishlock.

But neither player suitably impressed Cambridge boss John Taylor, who admits he is unlikely to take his interest any further.

Taylor said: "We had a couple of trialists playing but I don't think I'll be pursuing either of them."

Meanwhile, suspended duo Justin Walker and Terry Fleming have returned to training after appealing to The Football League against their club bans.

Both Fleming and Walker have been suspended for two weeks following a breach of the club's disciplinary code of conduct.

The pair will be allowed to train and play in reserve matches but not be involved in first team activities until the matter has been sorted.
