Harry blasts Stefanovic

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp launched a stinging attack on Serbian defender Dejan Stefanovic after he was sent off late on against Bolton.

Pompey were staring defeat in the face when the former Vitesse Arnhem man confronted referee Phil Dowd and was promptly shown a red card.

Dowd later confirmed he had given Stefanovic his marching orders for foul and abusive language, with Redknapp hardly able to contain his own anger at the player's actions.

"I could do without that as I have no squad as it is," a clearly unhappy Redknapp said. "I have got injuries and suspensions galore.

"To get a player sent off in the last minute of the game for swearing at the referee is absolute nonsense.

"People shouldn't get paid if they are not playing. Why should you pay their wages for sitting on the bench?

"I judge every red card on their merits and I certainly won't stand for someone swearing at the referee."
