Reo-Coker not fazed by interest

Wimbledon captain Nigel Reo-Coker has insisted that he is not surprised by the interest other clubs have taken in him.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been a bright light in a struggling Dons side who are ten points adrift of safety at the foot of the Division One table.

The Milton Keynes-based outfit rejected offers from two Premiership clubs for Reo-Coker this week, with the youngster having also attracted the interest of Portsmouth and Crystal Palace in the past.

The attention that Reo-Coker has received has not surprised him, however, stating that any player that is performing well will attract interest.

"The better you perform then eventually a club will come in for you," Reo-Coker told The Independent.

"At the moment it's all speculation, because scouts go to any game."

He admitted to being offered the chance of a move to Palace but told Eagles chairman Simon Jordan that he would consider other options in the current transfer window.

"He's (Jordan) offered the club to me, what he wants to achieve," added Reo-Coker.

"I thought it was just respectful to meet him, and told him that I was going to wait and see what happens in January.

"Other clubs have come in, but it's a question of whether they make the right move.

"The situation is different because the administrator is handling any negotiations.

"If we were not in administration, the club could ask for a lot more, because I've got another two years left on my contract."

Reo-Coker admits it would be sad to leave The Dons, having formed many friendships at the club, and that becoming club captain has been a huge responsibility for him.

"It's such a tight family unit," said Reo-Coker.

"It will be sad to leave, if I do, because I can't replace the friends I have here.

"We all played together in the youth team and have grown up together.

"There's a lot to take into consideration (as captain), including the off-the-field goings-on. But you have to mature quickly.

"Of course I was excited - to be captain at 19, not many kids ever achieve that, so it's something I will look back on.

"But it's also been a burden. I hope I've managed to take it in my stride."
