Munteanu on the move
Veteran Romanian midfielder Dorinel Munteanu has become the latest player to leave VfL Wolfsburg.
The 34-year-old playmaker has had limited chances to impress at the VW Arena since the arrival of Argentinian star Andres D'Alesandro, so has now decided to try his luck elsewhere.
VfL believe that Munteanu is likely to return to his homeland to join Steaua Bucharest after a proposed move to Bundesliga Zwei outfit Energie Cottbus fell through.
Munteanu joined Wolfsburg from Cologne in 1999 and made 101 appearances for the club.
He is the fourth player to leave the VW Arena during the winter break following Charles Akonnor (Unterhaching), Sven Muller (Nurnberg), Albert Streit (loan to Cologne) and Kim Madsen (loan to Rostock).
