Aston Villa v Leeds preview

Aston Villa boss David O'Leary will be aiming to hammer a further nail in Leeds United's coffin when he entertains his old club on Saturday.

O'Leary welcomes Leeds to Villa Park with his former side in turmoil both on and off the pitch and a shadow of the team which graced the UEFA Champions League semi-finals under the Irishman's tenure.

His return to Elland Road on Boxing Day ended in a 0-0 draw and O'Leary will be hoping Villa can boost their European aspirations with three points this weekend.

Last week's stunning 5-0 thrashing of Leicester provided a welcome return to goalscoring form for Darius Vassell and Peter Crouch.

Both players will be anxious to retain their places but leading scorer Juan Pablo Angel may be available again after injury.

Lee Hendrie is also battling back after a groin complaint and may hand O'Leary a boost in a decimated midfield department.

Gavin McCann and Peter Whittingham are suspended while Nolberto Solano is suffering from 'flu, meaning youngster Steven Davis has been drafted in to the squad.

Wales full back Mark Delaney is also banned which will force O'Leary to tinker with his defence.

Leeds have a virtually full squad to choose from as they seek to end a run of five successive defeats in The Premiership.

Michael Bridges was loaned out to Newcastle on Monday but Steven Caldwell headed in the opposite direction and could start at the back.

Lucas Radebe, David Batty and Mark Viduka are all available again as caretaker boss Eddie Gray calls on his charges to accept responsibility for the team's plight.

Gray's only two absentees are Lamine Sakho and Salomon Olembe, who are away on African Cup of Nations duty.
