Orient extend Sam loan

Leyton Orient have extended the loan of teenage midfielder Lloyd Sam for a further two months from Premiership club Charlton Athletic.

The 19-year-old winger initially joined the Division Three club on a four-week loan last month has made three appearances since arriving at Brisbane Road.

Sam's loan extension will make him eligible to play for The O's in their next 12 matches, with his loan to expire on April 16.

"Lloyd has done well during his time with us so far," Orient manager Martin Ling told the club's official website.

"He's lively on the wing and gives us another option and some balance.

"He's been a good acquisition and we are grateful to Charlton for letting us keep him - we have a good relationship with them and I'm sure that will continue."

Ling could not say the same for trialist Erdem Artun, having decided not to pursue his interest in the former Ipswich Town youngster.

Artun spent a fortnight training with Orient but he was unable to impress Ling enough to earn a deal with the East London outfit.

"He was technically sound, but I don't see him as any better than the players we already have at this club," Ling added.

The O's, however, will take a further look teenage Portuguese winger Miguel Cunha this week, as he played 45 minutes for the reserves last Wednesday.
