Waterreus to leave PSV

PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus will be leaving the club in the summer.

The 33-year-old has a contract at The Philips Stadion until 2005, but PSV have agreed to terminate his contract early in order to let him leave.

Waterreus intends on moving to America and is not looking to move in Europe.

"The only major change in the past few seasons was the arrival of Guus Hiddink as coach," said Waterreus - who has become unhappy at the situation at PSV.

"It lead to success last season, also because many players were driven to show their abilities after the disappointing season under Eric Gerets.

"However, the team hasn't improved since then.

"Everything has to do with the economic situation.

"However, there have been many players signed - but only Arjen Robben improved the team.

"The major players didn't become better. Only Wilfred Bouma showed development."
