Bradbury signs as two depart Saddlers

Walsall have sealed the signing of Lee Bradbury on a free transfer from Portsmouth.

Skysports.com revealed on Wednesday that The Saddlers had targeted Bradbury and now they have sealed the deal.

Bradbury is the second striker to arrive at The Bescot Stadium following Jermaine McSporran's arrival from Wycombe.

"He is an experienced player who has played in the top flight and has commanded some big transfer fees during his career," said Saddlers manager Colin Lee.

"He is a hard-working player who will lead our line well and I expect the fans to take to him straight away.

"He is the type of target man we need to play off Jermaine McSporran and I see him as an old-fashioned type of forward."

Following Bradbury's arrival - Walsall allowed Gary Birch to join First Division Barnsley on loan.

"With McSporran and Bradbury coming in, Birchy has fallen down the pecking order," admitted Lee.

"He has done well for me this season, but his form has dipped of late and he needs to be playing regular first-team football at this stage of his career.

"We can't guarantee him that at the moment, but he will get it at Barnsley and we hope that he can do a good job for them between now and the end of the season."

Meanwhile, Walsall have also allowed Portuguese winger Pedro Matias to join Blackpool on loan.
