Ferguson praise for Ronaldo
Ronaldo played a key part in handing Gary Neville the winner in a hard-fought game, and Ferguson believes the rotation system will help the Portuguese starlet develop into a world class talent.
"We did produce some good stuff, mainly through [Louis] Saha, Paul Scholes and Ronaldo.
"I think we've done the right thing [with Ronaldo] he got half an hour on Saturday and he's had a full game today.
"It's vital that he get his rest because he is such a young lad. In two years time I think he will be an outstanding player.
"It was a battle for us tonight but we expected that.
"I made some changes imply because I need to get players playing again.
"We have the target of the cup final and we need to get players enough games to cover all out options.
"What we did need tonight was to defend well and I think again this back four showed that they are excellent."
