Wenger delight with Robin
The Gunners sealed the transfer - for an undisclosed fee - on Wednesday after van Persie agreed a four-year deal to leave Feyenoord.
The move ended a long chase for Wenger, who was very happy with the transfer.
"We have been interested in him since December," said Wenger told Arsenal's official website.
"But we have completed it now because we feel there is something really interesting there. He has great potential.
"He can play on the left side of midfield, as a creative player behind the main strikers or as a target man.
"His main assets are his vision of the game and his technical quality. He is tall too and uses his body well. He is quite good in the air and that is something new for us.
"He has shown great potential at both club and Under-21 international level and will help strengthen our squad considerably.
"We are all looking forward to Robin joining us for pre-season in July."
Arsenal will officially complete van Persie's singing when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
The 20-year-old was understandably happy to have finally agreed his move.
"I'm delighted to be joining a great club like Arsenal, this is a dream come true for me.
"The squad is full of players at the top of their game, which they have proved by winning the English Premier League last Sunday.
"I'm looking forward to meeting all my new team-mates in the summer and helping the club to challenge for more honours."
