Van Bommel move dashed
The on-going transfer saga of PSV Eindhoven's Mark van Bommel looks set to continue after Bundesliga club Schalke had a bid for the player firmly rebuffed.
The industrious midfielder, who has been linked to host of European clubs this season, was reportedly heading to Germany according to the player's agent.
However, in a move which will alert potential English suitors Tottenham, Aston Villa and Charlton, PSV chairman Harry van Raaij has blocked a move to Schalke.
''They wanted to pay é¼3 million - that's too little for us,'' van Raaij told Dutch television.
Both the player and his club have conceded that he will be seeking pastures new in the summer - but as yet, his destination remains open to speculation.
