Euell to represent Jamaica

Jason Euell is prepared to commit his international future to Jamaica, handing a major boost to The Reggae Boyz.

The Charlton Athletic forward was born in Lambeth but is eligible to represent a country that qualified for the 1998 World Cup finals through his father.

After making his name at Wimbledon, the 27-year-old has established himself as a Premiership-class performer with Charlton.

He previously represented England at Youth and Under-21 levels.

"I said I'm going to come out here and watch the game against Haiti and, if all goes well and there's a good result, and a World Cup to go and play for, then I would be happy to come over and play," he told The Jamaica Observer.

"When an opportunity comes around, you have got to take the opportunity and it has come around so that's what I'm looking to do.

"I think when I come and join, I can give them something different, and it will give me something different as well.

"Again, it is international football and it is totally different to club football, so it is going to be another learning experience as well."

Euell's involvement will be a huge fillip for Jamaica, who play USA in August.
