Heffernan arrives at Ashton Gate

Bristol City player-manager Brian Tinnion has made his first summer signing by landing striker Paul Heffernan from Notts County.

The 22-year-old joins the Ashton Gate club in a £150,000 move after rejecting a number of offers to remain at Meadow Lane.

The Irishman passed a medical on Monday and signed a three-year contract with the League One club.

Heffernan hopes he can find the net on a frequent basis with The Robins, as they aim for promotion to The Championship next season.

"The manager has told me he wants 25 from me. It's a big ask, but I'll see what I can do," Heffernan told the club's official website.

"I'm really looking forward to playing at Ashton Gate because I know what a great atmosphere the fans produce here.

"I am joining a team with eyes on promotion, which is very exciting.

"I know the pressure will be on to succeed in the coming season, but it will be much better than the pressure at the wrong end of the table."
