Huntelaar: PSV did not want me

Huntelaar is seen as one of Holland's brightest striking prospects, having come through the youth ranks at PSV to secure Under-21 international honours.

He spent last season on loan at AGOVV but returned to the Philips Stadion in the summer in the hope of earning a place in Guus Hiddink's first team.

However, it would appear as if Hiddink does not feel the 20-year-old is ready and has sanctioned a move to Heerenveen.

Huntelaar has signed a three-year deal and is looking forward to the challenge of life at Heerenveen.

"I am very happy indeed," Huntelaar told PSV's website. "But I have mixed feelings.

"We had negotiations with PSV about an extension of my contract, but I felt uncomfortable. I felt that the club did not really consider me as their future first team striker. They were cautious and opted for a 'let's wait and see' policy."

Looking to the future, he added: "Heerenveen are a family club. I will be given an opportunity to play as a striker and it's up to me to whether I will be included in the starting line-up.

"I must make every effort at the training sessions and seize my opportunities."
