Cobblers reject Reid bid

Northampton Town have rejected a bid for captain Paul Reid from Barnsley and hope no further offers arrive for the defender.

The 22-year-old former Rangers stopper had been attracting interest from The Tykes for the past month, leading to a bid from the Yorkshire side.

However, Cobblers supremo David Cardoza swiftly rejected the offer as the club have no need to cash in on anyone.

"We have turned down a significant offer from Barnsley for Paul Reid," explained Cardoza to the club's official website.

"As we have said before, we do not need to sell any player.

"Paul Reid is our captain and we have no intention of losing him.

"As far as we are concerned, the matter is now closed."
