Jeremies quits Germany
The tough-tackling 30-year-old revealed his intention after a training session with Bayern on Friday.
"I've won 55 caps and there will not be any more to add to that," Jeremies told reporters.
The Gorlitz-born player made his international debut for Germany against South Africa in 1997.
He was part of his country's 2002 World Cup squad, which lost to Brazil in the final, and played his last game for his country against Czech Republic at Euro 2004.
Jeremies's retirement could well be the first of several amongst Germany's senior players with many experts expecting younger players to now be given the chance to establish themselves ahead of the 2006 World Cup which the Germans are hosting.
