Rammell calls it a day
The 37-year-old's decision comes just a week after he joined Conference club Forest Green Rovers on a free transfer from League Two side Bristol Rovers.
Rammell was one of seven players to be released by Pirates boss Ian Atkins at last season's end after injuries restricted the number of appearances he made for the West Country club.
A recurrence of the same knee injury has now prompted the Nuneaton-born striker to hang up his boots.
Rammell's playing career saw him move to Premiership giants Manchester United from non-league side Atherstone United in September 1989.
He went on to play for a number of English League clubs in his career - with Barnsley, Southend United, Walsall and Wycombe Wanderers being some of the stops for the big front man before moving to The Memorial Stadium in March 2003.
