R's look at African

Cameroon international Serge Branco is among four trialists bidding to clinch a contract with Queens Park Rangers.

Ian Holloway is currently assessing the merits of Branco and the 2000 Olympic gold medallist has impressed in friendlies against Ajax and Bristol Rovers.

Branco spent last season with VFB Stuttgart after the German side beat off competition from Manchester City for his signature.

But he failed to establish himself under Felix Magath and has now pitched up at Loftus Road in an attempt to kick-start his career.

R's boss Holloway admits Branco's performance against The Pirates on Tuesday has certainly given the club food for thought.

"He played very well for us and with the directors here, he certainly planted his flag in the ground," Holloway told the club's official website.

A further three trialists figured in the friendly against Rovers with Milos Malenovic, NDiwa Lord-Kangana and Lewis Hamilton all featuring in the second half.

Malenovic is a Switzerland Under-19 international who was on the books of Grasshopper Zurich last season while Hamilton was with Derby County.

Sweden Under-19 international Lord-Kangana was released by Bolton Wanderers at the end of the last campaign after a loan spell at Rochdale.
