Vittek commits to Nurnberg

Bundesliga new boys Nurnberg have announced that striker Robert Vittek has committed himself to a long-term contract.

Bundesliga new boys Nurnberg have announced that striker Robert Vittek has committed himself to a long-term contract.

Vittek played a major part in Nurnberg's promotion push last term, and his 11 goals in 27 games had made him a potential target for other top flight clubs during the summer.

SPL giants Celtic were reported to be planning a move for the hit-man, and Nurnberg team-mate Marek Mintal, after receiving glowing reports from scout Lubomir Moravcik.

However, a transfer failed to materialise and Vittek's decision to commit will come as another major boost to the Bavarian club, just two days after celebrating their return to the Bundesliga with an impressive 3-1 win at Kaiserslautern.

The striker proved his worth in the victory by netting the crucial second goal.
