Carr was stale at Spurs

Newcastle new-boy Stephen Carr did not think twice about leaving Tottenham.

Newcastle new boy Stephen Carr did not think twice about leaving Tottenham, as things had become stale at White Hart Lane.

Carr has been linked with a move to the North East on a number of occasions, and finally sealed a move to The Magpies this week.

The 27-year-old hopes that a change of club will kick-start his career which he feels had gone flat in North London.

"It wasn't a difficult decision leaving Spurs," said Carr.

"I was there a long time and became used to everything and everybody. Sometimes you can get into a routine and it doesn't do anything for your career.

"That's why, when this move came up, I didn't have to think twice.

"And it's not as if I've gone downhill, I've joined a massive club with massive potential and it's a great opportunity for me."

Carr says that he is in reasonable shape and is looking forward to making his home debut at St James' Park.

"I can't wait to make my home debut at St James' Park. It has to be one of the best grounds in the country.

"I've played against Newcastle many times and have always found the fans frightening. I'm delighted they're now for me rather than against me."
