Grimsby Town have completed the signing of experienced defender Dean Gordon. The former Middlesbrough defender has been looking for a new club after leaving Coventry City earlier in the summer and had a trial with Championship side Sunderland this week.
However, the 31-year-old has decided to join the injury-hit Mariners on a short-term contract and will be in the squad to face Bury on Saturday.
Grimsby have been hit by the injury bug after just two matches of the new League Two season, with news that midfielder Tony Crane could be out for up to a year with an articular cartilage problem in his knee.
Blundell Park manager Russell Slade, meanwhile, is also looking to get international clearance for French trialist strikers Amadou Konte and Gregory Thil.
Slade is hoping to have the pair available for selection against The Shakers.
