Wright-Phillips delight at debut

Shaun Wright-Phillips was delighted to have capped his England debut with a goal.

The Manchester City winger was brought on in England's 3-0 victory over Ukraine for his first international appearance.

Wright-Phillips, the adopted son of Ian Wright, made an immediate impact embarking on a fine run before unleashing a wonderful strike for England's third goal.

The midfielder attributed his success to the people around him, and expressed his hope that he could continue in the same way at international level.

"[My success] is just down to the people I have been playing with and the players at the club," said Wright-Phillips.

"At the moment my head's just on getting picked for the World Cup qualifier.

"After that I will take every step as it comes."
