Hibs to let Brebner go

Hibernian midfielder Grant Brebner looks set to leave Easter Road.

Hibernian midfielder Grant Brebner looks set to leave Easter Road with a number of clubs vying for his signature.

Dundee United have expressed an interest in Brebner and Hibs boss Tony Mowbray is willing to let him leave as he bids to raise funds.

"I've had a conversation with Dundee United about Grant and there are one or two other clubs interested in him, not all of them in Scotland," said Mowbray.

"I need to talk to Grant and I do that daily and I'll see how he feels about it.

"I'm sure the Hibs fans see him as one of their favourite players and every time he pulls on the shirt he gives a 100% because he is a Hibs man.

"But hopefully they can see the type of player I'm trying to bring to the club and you can only bring assets in when you move assets out.

"That's the game, sometimes you have to make sacrifices to move your club on and hopefully the fans will trust my judgement on where we need to strengthen and what we have to do to improve on from where we've been the last few years."

Derek Riordan could also leave the Edinburgh outfit with Preston believed to be keen on the talented striker.

Preston boss Craig Brown is a big fan of striker and sees him as an ideal replacement for Ricardo Fuller.

Mowbray is aware of the interest of several clubs in some of his young players including Riordan.

"Every time a club asks about our players they ask about the same ones. I could reel off another five or six clubs who have asked about our talented youngsters," added Mowbray.
