West Brom bag Inamoto

West Brom have signed Japanese star Junichi Inamoto from Gamba Osaka.

West Bromwich Albion have swooped to sign Japanese star Junichi Inamoto before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

The attacking midfielder looked to have ended his three-year spell in English football after failing to land a permanent deal with Premiership side Fulham.

The former Arsenal player returned to owners Gamba Osaka in the Japanese J-League, but the Far East talent has taken the fresh opportunity to return to The Premiership with Gary Megson's side.

Inamoto, who is currently sidelined with a hairline fracture in his leg, has committed himself to a two-and-a-half-year contract with an option for another season.

The Baggies will pay Gamba £200,000 once Inamoto makes his first appearance for the Black Country club.

With the transfer window to close on Tuesday, West Brom decided to sign the 24-year-old now, despite the fact that the midfielder is not due to be fit until October.

Megson was delighted to bring the Japanese international to The Hawthorns, as he looks to boost his squad after the club's return to the top-flight.

"We're delighted to have signed Junichi," Megson told the club's official website.

"He obviously isn't fit at the moment, but the reason we've done the deal now is we wouldn't have been able to sign him when he is due to complete his recovery as the window would be closed."
