Griemink out for Shrimpers
Southend United goalkeeper Bart Griemink is out for six weeks with a knee injury.
Southend United goalkeeper Bart Griemink has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury. The Dutch custodian had a scan on the problem after being stretchered off in the club's 4-1 away win at Rushden & Diamonds.
The former Birmingham City, Peterborough United and Swindon Town keeper sustained the injury in a collision with Rushden's Alex Hay at Nene Park and had to be substituted.
Despite losing Griemink for a lengthy period, Shrimpers boss Steve Tilson hopes the Dutchman's absence will be a chance for number two Darryl Flahavan to step up into the starting XI.
"He had a scan and he will probably be out for about four to six weeks," said Tilson.
"Bart's done well in the side and it's sad what happened to him on Saturday.
"However, it presents a good opportunity for Darryl Flahavan to try and get in the side."
