Solano waits for Fifa

Nolberto Solano has said he will play for Peru against Bolivia in the South American World Cup qualifiers, but only if Fifa let him.

The Aston Villa midfielder is currently embroiled in a mix-up over the number of yellow cards he has received.

Solano appeared to be yellow-carded during his side's World Cup qualifier against Uruguay. The booking was his second of the qualifiers and should rule him out of Peru's next match.

However, Fifa have recorded only one booking against his name and the Peruvian is now seeking clarification from Fifa as to whether he is eligible to play.

Solano told Radio Ovacion: ‚Ç£Everybody knows that I have two yellow cards so it is clear Fifa have made a mistake.

‚Ç£It is possible the referee of the Uruguay match forgot to record the booking.

‚Ç£But if Fifa let me play, then I will play.‚Ç¥

Manuel Bruga, the president of the Peruvian Football Federation, has travelled to Fifa headquarters in Zurich to resolve the issue.

‚Ç£What would happen if I play then Peru receives a sanction? I understand that the federation is trying to find out my situation.

‚Ç£The president has travelled to Zurich so we will know what to do then,‚Ç¥ Solano confirmed.
