Mourinho blast for Cole

Jose Mourinho has blasted Joe Cole, despite his winning goal against Liverpool.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has blasted Joe Cole, despite the fact the England midfielder came off the bench to net the only goal against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Sunday's Premiership clash looked to be heading for a stalemate before Cole's classy intervention but, nevertheless, his Portuguese taskmaster is far from content with his overall contribution.

Cole has enjoyed more prolonged spells in the Chelsea first-team under Mourinho's tenure, but the former Porto chief has demanded that he must improve if he is to retain a regular berth.

''Joe scored a very important goal - he gave us dynamism when he came on,'' conceded Mourinho.

''But after he scored his game finished. I needed 11 players to work for he team and I only had ten.

''If he wants to be a regular for England he needs to improve and be part of the team's defensive organisation.

''He needs to make an impact on me - not the crowd.

''Joe has two faces, one is beautiful and one that I don't like.

''But I can improve him, and he wants to learn.''
